Katherine “Betty Jane” Tiemann Corder, 88, Raymore, Missouri, passed away on December 25, 2017, at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 28, at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 29 at Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton, Missouri. Pastor Meggan Prosser-Gebhardt officiated. Interment was later that day at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Westboro, Missouri, with Pastor Franz Brandenburg officiating.
Betty Jane was born October 14, 1929, on a farm in Westboro. She was the daughter of William and Lillian (Fuelling) Tiemann. She received her early education at the South Dale country school and later graduated from Westboro High School in 1947. In May of 1951, Betty received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the Northwest Missouri State University. Betty taught elementary school in the states of Iowa, Oregon, Kansas, and Missouri. For one year, Betty taught the children of the United States Air Force troops who were stationed in Giessen, Germany. Her assignment abroad gave her the opportunity to visit Spain, Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Betty regarded her experiences in Europe as some of the best memories of her life.
On June 29, 1961, Betty was united in marriage to Thad W. Corder in Kansas City, Missouri. Together, Betty and Thad were blessed with three daughters, Patricia, Karen, and Linda.
Betty was a member of the Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian Tiemann; her husband of 49 years, Thad W. Corder; and sister-in-law, Marie Tiemann. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Iseman (Kevin), Karen Allen (Joe), and Linda Donaldson (Jim); brothers, Warren Tiemann (Mary) of Westboro, and Marlan Tiemann of Shenandoah, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Michael, Madison, Genevieve, Leslie, and Anna.
