EA Wolves 5th in Fairfax Tournament
The East Atchison Wolves won 5th place in the Fairfax Basketball Tournament Saturday, January 13, 2018. The East Atchison high school basketball teams hosted the 86th Annual Fairfax Tournament this past week in Fairfax, Missouri.
The EA Lady Wolves got off to a splendid start with an 83-21 victory over West Nodaway. Jaycee Graves led EA with 20 points, followed by Kilea Cooper with 17 (three three-pointers), Mercedes Parshall with 10 (two three-pointers), Chloe Bruns with nine, Lily Graves with six, Jesse Graves and Morgan Parshall with five each (both had one three-pointer), Kaely Kirwan and Grace Martin with four each, and Shelbey Morris with three (one three-pointer).
The EA Wolves played West Nodaway in their first game of the tournament and lost 56-63. Gage McAdams led the Wolves with 22 points (five three-pointers), followed by Jake McEnaney with 17 (three three-pointers), Colin Joesting with 12, Trey Bowling and Shae DeRosier with two each, and Max Hopkins with one.
In the second round, the Lady Wolves took on St. Joe Christian, winning 51-16. Kilea Cooper, Kinley Thornhill, and Mercedes Parshall each scored 11 points (Kilea and Mercedes had three three-pointers each), Jaycee Graves added nine, Lily Graves had three, Shelbey Morris and Kaely Kirwan added two each, and Jesse Graves and Madison Ohrt had one.
The EA Wolves competed against Nodaway-Holt in their second game of the tournament Friday evening, January 12. EA came away with the win with a final score of 51-26. Jake McEnaney and Colin Joesting led the Wolves with 14 points each (Colin had two three-pointers), Gage McAdams added 10 points (two three-pointers), Kaden Cooper added nine (one three-pointer), and Ian Hedlund added four.
The boys’ Friday night win advanced them to the consolation game Saturday afternoon, January 13. EA took on the Rock Port Blue Jays. The game was a close one, but the Wolves pulled ahead for the 5th place win with the overall score of 43-41. Jake McEnaney led the Wolves with 18 points (two three-pointers), followed by Colin Joesting with 10, Gage McAdams with eight, Kaden Cooper with five, and Shae DeRosier with two.
The win over St. Joe Christian advanced the Lady Wolves to the championship game against the Rock Port Lady Blue Jays on Saturday evening. The girls took to the court and the Lady Wolves came away with the 1st place, 69-38 win over Rock Port. Jaycee Graves led EA with 23 points, followed by Kilea Cooper with 11 (three three-pointers), Mercedes Parshall with 10 (one three-pointer), Chloe Bruns with eight, Lily Graves with seven, Morgan Parshall with six, and Kinley Thornhill with four.
