If you’ve ever been interested in ice fishing and want to learn the basics, here’s your chance.  The Missouri Department of Conservation will be hosting an Ice Fishing Workshop on January 27, 2018, at Mozingo Lake located east of Maryville, Mo.  The workshop will consist of two portions: classroom and field.  The classroom portion will take place at the Mozingo Lake Multi-Use building and will last approximately one hour.  The classroom portion will address ice safety, ice fishing equipment, species to fish for and where to find them. After the classroom, participants will move to the field portion.
The field portion will actually take place on the ice at Mozingo Lake where participants will try their luck ice fishing for the next several hours.  There will be plenty of staff there to assist with the ice fishing part of the clinic.  Staff will have the area set up with pre-drilled holes and will have ice augers there throughout the day.
Bait and tackle will be provided but is limited while supplies last; so I encourage you to bring your own gear and bait if you have it.
The workshop will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free of charge, however, pre-registration is required.
To register for the clinic or for additional information, please contact the Missouri Department of Conservation at (816) 271-3100.
