The Fairfax Board of Aldermen met Wednesday, January 17, 2018. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ryan Kingery at 6:35 p.m. Roll call was taken. Those in attendance were: aldermen Kristi Duering, Tabitha Wintz, Beth Graves, and Michael Oswald; Mayor Ryan Kingery; Water Superintendent John Brown; and City Clerk Kristy McDonald.
The board approved the tentative agenda, as well as the regular meeting minutes from November 15, 2017.
Bob Carlock and Bob Alldredge were present representing the Fairfax Community Improvement Foundation. They are still looking into ways to update and improve the city park and wanted to keep the city council up-to-date on their ideas.
The board voted to approve accounts payable and the financial statement.
The council was presented a proposed budget showing the extra income that raising the water rates would bring in. The proposal will be sent to the USDA to get concurrence and the board will continue to move forward with the water rate increase.
Staff Reports
Danny Kemerling was not present for the meeting, but his treasurer’s report was presented showing that all accounts are in balance.
Kristy McDonald presented the council with a complaint about dogs in town with no leash. As a reminder of the city’s ordinance: “No dog shall be permitted to run at large within the city limits of Fairfax. A dog shall be kept within the owner’s private premises by some person in charge of the dog. A dog shall be deemed running at large when found upon public or private property which is not the property of the owner.”
John Brown reported that they are working on repairs to the fire truck water tank. There was a brief discussion regarding the ballfield lights and different options available to replace them.
The meeting went into closed session at 8:00 p.m. for discussion of personnel as provided by RSMo 610.021(3, 13). The council came back to open session at 9:00 p.m. and adjourned.
The next meeting is February 21 at 6:30 p.m.
