On Friday, February 2, 2018, the Rock Port School District and City Council recognized and thanked Rock Port’s various youth programs and sponsors that provide an invaluable service to this community in aiding the growth and development of our young people.
In attendance were representatives from: Optimist Club, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Head Start, PEO, Jays for Jesus, Robotics, NW Robotics, Girls Scouts, Boys Scouts, ACDC, Marcy McMahon Daycare, 4-H, New Horizons, Beta Gals, and Chris Shimmel with Grace Church sponsoring the 5th quarter.
Mrs. Ungles read the following: “In our lives, there are many incredible people who inspire and mold our character and future. These mentors and leaders come in all shapes and forms, never failing to provide motivation and advice. For a great number of people, such inspiration comes in the form of a coach, sponsor, mentor and teacher. Coaches and mentors are some of the wisest, most incredible people and have an immeasurable impact on the lives of all those with whom they come in contact.  Being a sponsor for any youth group or organization, at any level, is a daunting challenge and requires absolute commitment and dedication. All those who have been positively affected by a coach, sponsor or organization should be extremely thankful, here are just a few reasons to thank these incredible human beings.
Thank you for your time, commitment, and unwavering dedication to the sport/activity and more importantly, to each child’s development.  You never fail to give your all, even when obligations to family, work, and other commitments remain prevalent. Your sacrifice does not go unnoticed, and you serve as an example of selflessness and passion that we look to instill in our young people.
Thank you for showing our kids how to be a model citizen, member of the community, and teammate. The values and principles taught day in and day out have shown the youth of our community how to be an effective and meaningful member of the Rock Port community and work alongside others in all aspects of their lives. The fundamentals and life lessons you instilled allow our students to experience future success in all endeavors and for that, we thank you.
Thank you for pushing our kids to be the best that they can be.  At every turn, we want our kids to reach their fullest potential and exceed even their own expectations. In the moments when kids are close to the breaking point, close to quitting, you are there to pick them up, offering wise words, guidance, and support.  For this we thank you.”
The Rock Port community is a wonderful place for our youth to grow and develop.  These individuals before you provide a service that enables our youngsters to flourish and amaze us by reaching new heights we did not think possible.
The Rock P High School gymnasium erupted with a standing ovation, applauding the various organizations, coaches and sponsors that make Rock Port a great place for kids!
