A one-vehicle accident in Atchison County sent one area driver to the hospital with minor injuries Monday, February 5, 2018. April Sturdevant, 39, of Mound City, Missouri, was driving a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer southbound on Route N. Sturdevant failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Missouri Hwy. 46 and Route N. The vehicle traveled across Hwy. 46 and struck an embankment, finally coming to rest on its wheels facing west off the south side of the highway.
Sturdevant, who was not wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries and was transported by Atchison-Holt Ambulance District to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri. The Chevy Trailblazer received extensive damage and was towed from the scene by DD Towing of Mound City.
The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper K.L. Ebersol, who was assisted by Sgt. M.P. Quilty and the Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service.
