The Rock Port High School 2018 Academic Banquet was held March 19, Rock Port R-II High School Principal Ethan Sickels introduced the evening’s guest speaker Mr. Chris Chamberlain. Mr. Chamberlain is the proud parent of Chase, a 2010 graduate of RPHS, and Catyn, a soon to be 2018 graduate. Chris has spent 31 years teaching sociology and psychology, while also being the Head Boys’ Track coach at Central High School for the last 25 years.
Chris Chamberlain has created educational and motivational programs focusing on a variety of topics concerning education, family and parenting, depression, divorce, and positive life skills in which he has spoken to thousands of people in a variety of public speaking forums over the last 25 years. Chris is retiring from Central High School at the end of this year to focus on his book, and pursue other opportunities in both the public and private sectors.
Chamberlain concluded his speech with “I hope you all realize how fortunate you are to live in a community that makes education a priority. That allows you opportunities to excel in a variety of areas. You must have one heck of a mayor . . .”
The awards presentation then commenced. The Rock Port High School students that were honored have distinguished themselves by maintaining a grade point average of 3.67 or higher.
Rock Port NHS 2017-2018 members were recognized along with their sponsors, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Bebb. The banquet came to a close with Mr. Brock Nuckolls, of Citizens Bank & Trust announcing, and Mrs. Shauna Farmer presenting, the Rock Port High School graduates with their scholarship awards.
