The Watson Quilters met Thursday night with Linda Viets, Teresa and Jim Hickok, Anita Armstrong, Francis Nahkunst, Donna Whelan, Tammy Oakes, Makayla Oakes, and Kay Gibson attending. Everyone was working on their own things. We did get a request for a quilt, and since it was a good cause, we are trying to dig one up!
APRIL FOOL’S DAY
We all know the Easter story, but how in the world did April Fool’s Day begin? I got on my googler and googled it, but seems like no one knows for sure.
Possibly back in the 1500’s when they changed calendars. Before New Year’s was celebrated near April 1st, and those who weren’t up with the times and didn’t realize it had changed got jokes played on them.
Some good April Fool’s jokes have been pulled through the years. In 1957, BBC reported Swiss farmers had a record spaghetti crop. In 1996, Taco Bell claimed they bought the Liberty Bell, and in 1998, Burger King claimed they had a left-handed burger.
Myself, I think it all stems to Mother Nature, who has played some pretty rotten tricks on us this time of year.
