Calling all young adults, ages 15 to 18, who love the outdoors! Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) is seeking young adults for an outdoor summer job opportunity! The Refuge is sponsoring a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) work program this summer. YCC engages young people in valuable hands-on work experiences to help develop and maintain the natural resources of the United States on national wildlife refuges, national parks, national forests, and fish hatcheries. YCC members will help with projects that include trail maintenance, mowing and weedwhipping, biological surveys, and invasive species control.
This eight-week summer work program is scheduled from June 4 to July 27, 2018, for young adults ages 15 to 18 (enrollee must not turn 19 before July 27). Work will consist of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at $7.70 per hour. Selected applicants will need to have their own bank account before reporting to work and show their Social Security card.

Applications must be received or postmarked no later than 4 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Refuge. Four applicants will be selected for employment in a random drawing held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Refuge headquarters and all applicants will be notified by mail after selections.
