Tarkio Scholar Bowl team members Devin Guajardo and Cat Prater earned All-District Scholar Bowl honors at the District 16 tournament.
The Rock Port, Fairfax, and Tarkio high school scholar bowl teams traveled to Mound City on Saturday, April 14, 2018, for the District 16 Scholar Bowl tournament.
In the morning pool play, the Blue Jays bested the Fairfax Bulldogs 360-90 and the Tarkio Indians 360-130, but fell to the Mound City Panthers 220-410. The Blue Jays earned the #2 seed in the afternoon tournament and faced the #3 seed, Tarkio, in the semi-finals. The Blue Jays earned a spot in the championship by beating the Indians 380-110.
The Jays lost the final round to the Panthers 230-480 to bring home the 2nd place trophy. Point totals for Rock Port district competitors were captain Mercer Deatz – 470, Ethan Lucas – 280, Ally Demott – 110, and Ayden Wilroy – 140. Mercer Deatz and Ethan Lucas earned All-District honors. Mercer was 2nd and Ethan was 4th overall.
The morning was spent in pool-play. The Indians defeated Craig 300 to 210, lost to Rock Port 130 to 360, and defeated Fairfax 280 to 110 in the morning pool-play. Tarkio lost to Rock Port 110 to 380, in the afternoon with the Indians earning 3rd in Districts. Indian Devin Guajardo received All-District honors, placing 4th overall, and Lady Indian Cat Prater also received All-District honors, placing 6th overall. Scholar Bowl members included Devin, Cat, Melissa Lang, Anna Klute, Bryli Staten, Ella Rolf, Jae Barnett, and Ashlynn Meyer.
The Fairfax Bulldogs lost to Nodaway-Holt 170-210, to Rock Port 90-360, and to Tarkio 110-280. Team members included Tacy Mitchell, Gena Mitchell, Zach Garrison, Katy Baker, and Shanna Gilpin.
