On May 3, 2018, millions of Americans will observe our National Day Of Prayer. It will be a time to reflect on our country and focus on God as did our Founding Fathers. Our Founding Fathers established the precedent for prayers and national days of prayers as an honored part of our American way of life. In the year leading up to the Declaration of Independence, the Continental Congress twice called for the observation of a Day of Public Humiliation, Fasting, and Prayer.
When it comes to praying for our country 2 Chronicles 7: 14 is a much quoted verse. The Lord says: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” It’s important to read the words “if” and “then” in God’s Word. If we do our part, then He will do His part.
May 3, 2018, is a time for people to turn their hearts back to God and pray once again to honor God and to see Him as the One True Source of strength, blessings and healing. This year’s National Day of Prayer theme is Pray For Unity in America.
