Rock Port City Park batting cage gets a needed upgrade.

The Rock Port Optimist upgraded the batting cage at the south ball field. For years the batting cage at the city park has served its purpose, but it was starting to show its age and needed an overhaul. With the help of Rock Port Optimist members Troy Cook, Rebel Herron, Ben Henning, Jared Meyerkorth, and Demian Ellis making some calls,  plans came together to pour concrete and put a mat on the top of the concrete. This would bring the surface up and allow it to drain and a dry faster. Rock Port’s city crew, Trevor Hale, Justin Baucom, Clayton Amthor and Damian Pritt helped prep the site and pour the concrete. Jim Gerking donated a field turf mat that will be glued down and then crumb rubber will be raked in to the mat. A generous cash donation and the work of many made this much needed update project possible.
