The Atchison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home of Todd Herron at 20149 200th Street on April 27, 2018, where a person had broken into the Herron home and was found in the basement.
Upon arrival a deputy found the suspect, Tommy Collins, of Norfolk, Nebraska, at 200th Street and Hwy. Y. The subject was placed in handcuffs and when asked why he was in the Herron home. Collins stated he was with family and that he was doing laundry and collecting socks.
A search was made of Collins, and the deputy found two different containers of a controlled substance and a girl’s white/pink sock which was later identified by Mr. Herron as belonging to one of the Herron children.
Collins was arrested and taken to the Atchison County Jail where he has been charged with felony burglary, first degree, and two felony counts of possession of controlled substance. Arraignment has been scheduled for May 10, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.
