The Tarkio 5th, 6th, and jr. high bands, as well as the jr. high choir, performed their Tarkio Spring Concert Wednesday evening, May 2, 2018, in the Tarkio High School Gym. The concert was also to include the high school bands and choirs, as well as an awards presentation, but the event was stopped short due to repeated tornado warnings in the area. The high school portion of the event was held Friday afternoon at the school.
The Tarkio 5th grade band performed “Old MacDonald Had a Band,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and “Let’s Go Band.” The band members include: Flutes – Jillian Hannah and Alyson Wooten; Clarinets – Haylee Clark, Abbie Harms, Madison Quattrocchi, Savannah Caldwell, Makenna Carder, and Charley Caudill; Saxophone – Kamryn Brown, Colton Hall, Cameron Brooks, Luke Morey, and Teagen Wennihan; Trumpets – Madison Caudill, Lizzie Schlueter, Sydnee Bruns, Brezie Bywater; Trombones – Jacob Shubkagel, Gabe Harms, Cayden Gibson, Jaxon Liechti, and Levi Brown; Baritones – Owen DeRosier; Percussion – River Dow, Alex Erickson, Cady Jo Burton, and Connor Morton.

The Drum Line performed as well. Drummers included Colin Joesting, Jimi Elder, Josie King, Daniel Lesher, Lucas Joesting, and Titus Eaton.
To begin the high school concert Friday afternoon, the Drum Line performed again, playing “Cobra.” The Guitar 1 class, consisting of Lauren Quimby, Jordan Heard, Bella Hurst, and Jayce Navin, played “The Snake Charmer” and “Warrior’s Song.”
The high school choir sang “Wade in the Water,” “Jubilate Deo!”, “Some Nights (preview),” and “Back Home.” Choir members include Colin Joesting, Madison Ohrt, Hannah Blank, Destiny Sanders, Selena Somerville, Grace Martin, Gabby DeRosier, Jordan Heard, Jimi Elder, Hannah Brown, Skye Clark, Anna Lester, Jae Barnett, Raelynn Gish, Dixie Hendrix, Jamie Hendrix, Anna Klute, Hunter Bennett, Harley Caudill, Autumn Murry, Bryli Staten, Allison Yates, and Madison Driskell.

The high school band performed “Limestone Overture,” “Sound of Music Medley,” and “Cheap Thrills.” Band members included: Flute – Dixie Hendrix; Clarinet – Harley Caudill; Alto Saxophones – Shaylee Sparks, Grace Martin, Jae Barnett, Morgan Parshall, Cheyenne Gray, and Brynnan Poppa; Tenor Saxophones – Anna Klute and Bryli Staten; Baritone Saxophones – Alex Somerville and Mercedes Parshall; Trumpets – Madison Ohrt, Corben Bothwell, and Devin Guajardo; French Horn – Ella Rolf; Trombone – Jordyn Hogue; and Percussion – Colin Joesting and Jimi Elder.
Due to the concert being rescheduled and time constraints to get it performed before the students had to go home for the day, the music awards were not handed out. They will be presented at the high school awards ceremony to be held Thursday, May 10, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Tarkio High School Gym. Family members are invited to attend.
