Fairfax Xi Lambda Beta members presented a $600 check to the Fairfax School Art Department for their donation on the new potter’s wheel. The Fairfax Xi Lambda Beta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi is closing in on another year. The 47-year-old chapter has served their Fairfax community and county well over the years. Proceeds from their Christmas greenery sales last November is used to sponsor projects throughout the area. Projects from June 2017 to May 2018 have included: Back to School Program, Fairfax School Science and Tech Program, Wounded Warriors, Atchison County Care, adopting a family at Christmas, Fairfax Academic Banquet, Easter Egg Hunt, Fairfax Light Night, Community Hospital-Fairfax Cornerstone Club, donation to State Music bound musicians, donation toward Vacation Bible School T-shirts, and their latest, a $1,500 donation for the Fairfax City Park Playground Project and a $600 donation to the Fairfax School for the Art Department’s purchase of a potter’s wheel.
They sponsor the opening ceremonies at the Fairfax Fair and the baby show, and provide meals, gifts and expenses for the queen contests.
New officers to be installed at the June meeting are: Marilyn Alldredge, president; Lea Anne Miller, vice-president; Anita Sutter, secretary; Sandy Fisher, treasurer; and Krys Carlock, sunshine.

When November rolls around Xi Lambda Beta members hope the public will once again be generous with their greenery purchases. Proceeds raised go back to the community.
