Abbie Hale

Atchison County can be proud of boasting two State Champions.  East Atchison’s Gage McAdams set a new State record in the pole vault. Rock Port’s Abbie Hale beat her own school record in the 300 hurdles.

 

Atchison County was well-represented at the Class 1 State Track Meet, held Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19, 2018, in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Ten athletes on the East Atchison Wolves’ track team qualified at sectionals to compete in eight events at state. Their results are as follows:
Gage McAdams won his third state championship medal in the pole vault. He vaulted 15’ ¼” on his final attempt, breaking the state record of 15’ in the process. This also set a new Tarkio High School record.
Gage also competed in the high jump. He finished in 10th place with a jump of 6’.
Briacin Bywater qualified for the finals in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.34 in the preliminaries. He earned fifth place and medaled in the finals with a time of 41.94.
Briacin also competed in the 110 meter high hurdles. He finished in ninth place in the preliminaries, but his time of 16.41 did not qualify for the finals.
Jake McEnaney finished in ninth place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:46.68.
Kaely Kirwan placed eighth in the pole vault with a vault of 8’6”, earning a state medal.
Allison Yates also competed in the pole vault. She placed ninth with a vault of 8’3”.
Madison Ohrt placed 11th in the javelin with a throw of 105’9”.
The girls’ 4×800 meter relay team (Brynnan Poppa, Grace Martin, Tawni Martin, and Mercedes Parshall) placed seventh  and earned state medals with a time of 10:34.17.
Six Rock Port Blue Jays qualified at sectionals to compete in five events at the state meet, and all six earned medals. Results for the Rock Port athletes were:
Abbie Hale posted a time of 47.75 in Friday’s preliminaries of the 300 meter hurdles. She won the championship on Saturday with a personal record time of 46.59, also breaking the Rock Port High School record she set earlier this season.
The 4×100 meter relay team (Abbie Hale, Rachel Vogler, Makenna Farmer, and Marisa Carder) qualified for the finals with a preliminary time of 52.81. The team placed fifth in the finals with a time of 53.63.
The 4×200 meter relay team (Abbie Hale, Makenna Farmer, Riley Vogler, and Marisa Carder) qualified for the finals on Friday with a preliminary time of 1:50.61. The team placed fifth in the finals with a time of 1:50.94.
The 4×400 meter relay team (Rachel Vogler, Riley Vogler, Makenna Farmer, and Abbie Hale) had a qualifying time of 4:13.61 in the preliminaries, and placed third in the finals with a time of 4:16.19.
Dalton Stevens placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 129’4”, a personal record.

 

Abbie Hale

Abbie Hale was sitting second in the 300m hurdles going into the finals. Despite the rain, Abbie was able to make up the stagger and maintained her lead to win in a time of 46.59, resetting her school record.

 

Gage McAdams

Defending his title for the third year Gage McAdams set a new state record with a vault of 15’ 1/4”. Gage also competed in the High Jump  where he finished tenth, jumping 6’.

 

Dalton Stevens

Dalton Stevens had a throw of 129’ 4” to place eighth. This was a personal record for Dalton.

 

Briacin Bywater

Briacin Bywater placed fifth in the 300m Hurdles. Briacin also competed in the 110m Hurdles and finished ninth.

 

Kaely Kirwan

Kaely Kirwan received her eighth place metal in the pole vault for a height of 8’6″.

 

 4x400m relay

With a time of 4:16.19 the Rock Port 4x400m relay placed third in the finals. Team members are Makenna Farmer, Rachel Vogler, Riley Vogler, and Abbie Hale.

 

 4x100m

Rock Port’s girls 4x100m with a time of 53.63 earned fifth place. Team members are Marisa Carder, Rachel Vogler, Makenna Farmer and Abbie Hale.

 

 4 x 800m

East Atchison’s 4 x 800m relay team ran a time of 10:34.17 placing seventh. Team members are Mercedes Parshall, Brynnan Poppa Grace Martin, and Tawni Martin.

Allison Yates

Allison Yates vaulted  8’ 3” and finished in ninth place.

 

Madison Ohrt

Madison Ohrt had a throw of 105”9”, and finished eleventh.

 

4x200m

Rock Port’s girls’ 4x200m relay team with a time of 1:50.94 came in fifth at State track. Team members are Marisa Carder, Riley Vogler, Makenna Farmer and Abbie Hale.

 

Jake McEnaney

Jake McEnaney ran a 4:46.68 and finished in ninth place in the 1600m run.
