The East Atchison Wolves Baseball Team earned a 2nd place finish in the Class 1, District 16 Tournament in St. Joseph, Missouri, Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
The game started out great for the Wolves when the Lions’ pitcher lacked control and threw several balls, striking at least three players in the first inning and putting several Wolves on base. The pitcher was removed and a new one took the mound, but not before the Wolves had put 2 points on the board. Unfortunately, as the Lions started to add points and the game was tied at 2-2, a weather front moved in and the rain began to pour. After a rain delay, it was decided to move the game to another field as the first one was too wet to play on. The length of time between games seemed to take its toll on the Wolves and run by run they fell to the Lions with a final score of 3-9. Had the weather cooperated, we may have seen a different outcome, but win or lose, the Wolves had a fantastic season making it to the District Championship for the first time since the team was formed. They should be proud of themselves as their fans definitely are!
