A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri, for Rick G. Kirwan of Tarkio. Inurnment will be held at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Open visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, at Davis Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Rick, the son of Dana and Kathleen (Newton) Kirwan, was born July 24, 1942, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He graduated high school in Massachusetts, then attended Iowa Western, graduating with a carpentry and landscaping degree.
On April 20, 1960, Rick entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. On April 19, 1963, he received his honorable discharge.
Rick worked as a carpenter and for Iowa Beef Packers. He was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio. Rick loved hunting, fishing, cooking and enjoying a beer with a friend. Rick passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at his home in Tarkio at the age of 75.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by brothers, Jeff and David Kirwan. Survivors include children, Charlie Kirwan and wife, Sarawn, Tarkio, Matt Womeldorff and wife, Tiffany, California, and Jody Murry and husband, Jim, St. Joseph, Missouri; step-children, Diana Jones and husband, John, Craig, Missouri, Mark Womeldorff and wife, Bonnie, Fairfax, Missouri, and Tammy Knapp and husband, Randy, Craig; eight grandchildren; brother, Scott Kirwan, Boston, Massachusetts; and sister-in-law, Martha Kirwan, Florida.
