Hardin Cox, who attended Camp Hillyard at St. Joseph the past several summers, has a position at the camp for the next two months. He was selected by the management as qualified for the position and went to St. Joseph Monday to take up his summer work as first senior leader.
The air depot training station of the army air force at Albuquerque, New Mexico, sends The Mail a news item which says that Jack McCoy of Rock Port has been promoted from the rank of corporal to the rank of sergeant. He is assigned to the 467th base headquarters and air base squadron and is serving as administrative and technical clerk with his organization.

Rock Port’s Cubs had an easy time of it in winning their first game of the season 16-9 over New Market on the local field Monday. Bob Stubblefield and Jim Cox were the Battery for Rock Port with Stubblefield allowing five hits and fanning seven plus getting two hits for himself and scoring two runs. Clay Knierim had two hits and four runs, Roger Nelson 3 for 3 and three runs.
Rock Port’s Legion team met their match in the finals of the Hamburg tournament going down 6-1 to Maryville to take second place. Hawkins started for Rock Port, pitching three innings, allowing two runs, one hit and four walks with five strikeouts. T. Moore relieved and hurled four innings allowing four runs, two hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Fentiman caught all the way. Whitford scored Rock Port’s only run and T. Moore and S. Hawkins had the only Rock Port hits.

Amy Lair, 17, has been selected as this month’s Optimist Teenager of the Month. She is the daughter of Dan and Terry Lair, Rock Port.
Missouri Western State College announced the names of those 443 students selected to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the Spring semester, 1993. Amy Cottrell and Clay Vogler, both sophomores at Missouri Western from Rock Port, have been selected to the Dean’s Honor Roll.
