Bently J. Umbarger, 58, of Panorama City, California, passed away there June 6, 2018. He was born October 30, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of William and Marjorie Umbarger.
The family moved back to the Fairfax community in 1963. Bently graduated from Fairfax High School in the class of 1978. He attended the Institute of Technology in Kansas City, Missouri, where he completed an electric technician program and graduated in 1980. He accepted a position in his field with Litton Industry in Woodland Hills, California. A few years later they went out of business and he was employed with an entertainment special effects company in North Hollywood, California, for about 30 years. When his health declined, he did computer work from his home and always enjoyed his work at Lightning Strikes.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Margie Umbarger; brother, Tim and wife, Sandy, nephews Daniel and Treyvor  and his wife, Kris, great-nephew Emmett, great-niece Abigail, all from Fairfax; and brother Bradley and his wife, Lai, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax. Memorials are suggested to go to the Cancer Society.
