Atchison County and DeKalb County community members are invited to open community sessions June 29 and 30 to share views and experiences around wind farm development in our area. We need to hear your stories and how the recent projects have affected you.
Earlier this year, several landowners and communities in northwest Missouri asked the University of Missouri (MU) for input and resources. As a first step this summer, a team from MU is developing a public resource guide that can help individuals and communities work knowledgably through the issues and impacts of wind farm development. By sharing your stories, experiences and views, you will help develop a resource that individuals and communities can use to understand the concerns, risks, legalities and pros and cons of wind farm development in our area and throughout Missouri.
The Atchison County session will be held Saturday, June 30, at the Velma Houts Building (201 East U.S. Hwy. 136, Rock Port), from 9-11:30 a.m. with a light breakfast provided and 2-5 p.m. with a light lunch provided. Come casual. Drop in or stay the whole time, grab some food and join in. RSVP on the Extension’s Facebook Event Pages or call the Atchison County Extension Center at 660-744-6231. We hope to see you there!
