Three trees were planted in the Fairfax City Park by Mann’s Nursery, St. Joseph. They will eventually provide shade for the new playground area.

There is progress in the Fairfax City Park, just not the park equipment yet. Three trees have been planted to replace some that had deteriorated and were removed, plus an extra one to provide shade close to the new playground equipment. One red sunset maple tree and two autumn blaze maple trees were planted. Grass seed has also been sown.
This complete park project, sponsored by the Fairfax Improvement Foundation (FIF) with the assistance of many donors, will be showing more progress soon.
The FIF has taken on the project of upgrading the restrooms in the park and hopes to have that process completed by the Fairfax Fair, August 10-12.
The merry-go-round has been renovated and will be repositioned on site. The playground equipment is being assembled off-site. For safety reasons the equipment cannot be installed until the ground covering tile has arrived.
Additional donors that have been added to the list include: Sally Wehmann, Kelly’s Welding & Repair, Tarkio; Betty Lou Sly Trust, Charlotte Miller, Schooler Reunion Fund, Roger and Suzanne Southard, Reed and Paula Smith, Fairfax;  The American Legion Ralph Greer Post No 49, Rock Port; Jane and Mark Hausman, St. Joseph; J. Ben Wynn, Burlington Junction; Beverly J. Fredrick A Trust, La Jolla, California; and Missouri Masonic Home. Ag Choice, Fairfax, donated the grass seed.
Donations are still being accepted so additional pieces can be added for younger children. Donations can be made to Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri and mailed to P.O. Box 45, Fairfax, MO 64446, marked for Fairfax Playground or left at Fairfax Agency, Inc. office.
