Two singers from Atchison County, performing as “This Side of Normal,” recently competed in the Pick-Up Country, KNIM’s Country Showdown preliminaries for the chance to perform on the main stage at the Nodaway County Fair July 20. Those advancing are, from left to right, Sydney Billings, Crimson Ruttenberg, Shelby Bever, Jesse Blanchard, William Kampa, Nicole Salmond, Scott Holmes, Codi Nuckulls, and Josh Daniels. Not pictured are William Eimer, McKenna Liles, Drew Miller. The “This Side of Normal” duo includes Nicole Salmond, a 2003 graduate of Tarkio High School, and Scott Holmes of Watson, Missouri. Fifth grader Lonia Bowen won the Northwest Cell’s Fan Favorite Award and will entertain during intermission of the finals at the Nodaway County Fair.
