Come celebrate the retirment of Coach Garey Smith, who is retiring after 47 years of coaching and over 700 wins. Coach Smith coached the Fairfax Bulldogs from 1975 to 1982 and led the Lady Bulldogs to a State Championship Title in 1980. Coach Smith recently retired as the Women’s Basketball Coach at Grandview University after 18 seasons. Coach Smith is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University and is a member of the Missouri High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
A basketball clinic, free to all students entering grades 4-12 for the 2018-19 school year, will be held Saturday, July 14, at the Fairfax Gym. Grades 4-6 will meet from 9-10:30 a.m. Grades 7-8 will meet from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon and grades 9-12 will meet from 1-3 p.m. Coaches that will be helping include Nick Kemerling, Ryan Osburn, Todd Smith, Eric Smith, Garey Smith, and Mark Fisher. A community cookout will be held that same day, Saturday, July 14, in Coach Smith’s honor, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fairfax Park. In case of extreme heat or rain, the event will be held in the community room. Please RSVP to 618-214-7365.
