Ben Trauernicht will be competing for the United States with Down Under Sports in Queensland, Australia
Down Under Sports is pleased to announce that Ben Trauernicht from Mill Valley High School has been invited to represent Kansas on the 2018 Track and Field Team.
Ben left for Queensland, Australia on Saturday, July 7, 2018, to compete down under for individual honors and a team championship title. He is a state medal winner in the discus event. In Australia, he will be in four throwing events — the discus, shot put, javelin and hammer throw.
Ben Trauernicht is the grandson of Linda Trauernicht and the late Ray Trauernicht of Rock Port. He will be competing for the United States July 13-15, during his ten day trip.
Ben is the son of Scott and Cathy Trauernicht and attends 5A Mill Valley High School, Shawnee, Kansas. Ben, a senior, is a two time Kansas State Track and Field competitor in the discus, with a 5th place 154 foot throw in the 2018 state meet. Trauernicht gives Coach Chris Dunback credit for his success.
“I’m excited to meet like-minded friends with the same goals and same passions as me,” Trauernicht said.
