Plans are well underway for the ninth annual Great Northwest Wine Fest September 22, 2018, 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Mound City, Missouri. The event will be hosted by Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation (NWMEF) as their main fundraiser and is showing phenomenal growth and new introductions in its ninth year of wine tasting, sampling and sales.
Most of the wineries involved in this wine fest have been deemed as winners in Missouri’s Governor Award Winning Wines. There will be more offerings of new wines at this beautiful fall setting, in North Griffith Park, located in the north end of Mound City next to Mound City Development Corporation’s lavish vineyards. Each winery has their own unique taste and grape varieties, specialty named wines, and some are made with Mound City’s grapes.
The registration procedure uses two lines plus an advance ticket sales line, along with more advanced technologies can accommodate the crowd that has grown to nearly 3,000 attendees. Tickets may be obtained in advance online by going to NWMEF.org/wine fest, or at the gate by cash, check or credit card.
Wristbands must be worn by everyone and driver’s license or valid identification indicating their age must be shown at the registration desk. Each person 21 and older receives an etched wine glass. A flat fee of $25 is being charged this year for everyone. The fee for children ages 3-10 is $5.
Once again, a variety of different foods will be available. A full bar will also be available by The Klub of Mound City under the shelter house. Talented entertainers will grace the stage the entirety of the afternoon and evening.
An array of artisan booths will be available for the day’s activities. Items such as handcrafted jewelry, home decorative items, fall flowers, pumpkins, health products, purses and bags, gift items, photography and artistry, handmade items, baked items, jams, jellies, candles, cosmetics, woodworking items, t-shirts, hand-knitted items, and more can be purchased. There are still spots available for booth set-ups.
NWMEF board members are also offering two large raffle giveaways: a 50/50 raffle, and baskets of wine from the wineries. The winners will be announced that evening. The winners need not be present to win.
“Grape stompings” will occur in the afternoon. Plenty of tables and chairs are provided or bring your own lawn chairs. Ample parking will be available.
