Roots run deep in agriculture, and there is no better place to discover our rural heritage than the Missouri State Fair. So, why not come home to agriculture August 9-19 in Sedalia? Sit in the seat of a powerful new tractor, watch youth proudly show their livestock and crafts, tap your feet at concerts, and feast on corn dogs and cotton candy.
A special day to celebrate agriculture at the Fair is Farm Bureau/Farm Family Day on Aug. 13. It is a day Missouri Extension and Farm Bureau honors a farm family from every county in the state with a dinner and special recognition. It is also a day of coupons to save money, courtesy of Missouri Farm Bureau.
Anyone can stop by their local Farm Bureau office before their trip to Sedalia to obtain the free discount coupons. You don’t have to be a member. Save $1 on gate admission, $5 on an unlimited one-day carnival ride wristband and save up to $5 on admission to the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull. Stop by the Atchison County Farm Bureau office located at 518 S. Main in Rock Port to get your coupons.
Any day of the fair, stop by the Missouri Farm Bureau building between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. It is located between the historic old administration and MO-AG buildings. Find out what is happening with membership programs and insurance coverages. There are many new offerings to learn about since last year. This is an election year, so Farm Bureau is conducting a straw poll to gauge your reaction ahead of the November election. Enter a drawing to win a John Deere lawn tractor. There is no cost to enter this contest and a winner will be drawn after the fair.
“The Missouri State Fair is a special time for Farm Bureau. It is a time to get reacquainted with old friends and meet new ones,” said Blake Hurst, Missouri Farm Bureau president. “Farm Bureau has been around a long time and we are proud to show you what we have accomplished for rural Missourians and our plans for the future. We want to hear what you have been up to as well, so stop by our building for a visit.”
