• In “Over the Backfence” by Nancy Gaines: Last week the trip to the printing plant was like driving in the Minnesota lakes area. I was in the Tarkio River floodwaters, then came the Nishna River and finally the Missouri River. All three had water lapping onto the shoulders. Then came the 3 1/2 inch downpour in Nebraska City! As Debbie said, we need to be thinking about the ark.
July 18, 1968
• Twyilla Lewis was crowned “Miss Fairfax of 1968”, Kathy Shineman was first runner-up and Denise Calfee was second runner-up.
• According to an announcement from the CB&Q Railroad serving Fairfax, Tarkio and Westboro, all three depots will be served by one agent effective July 24, 1968. C.C. Arnold will retire and duties for the three will be taken over by Tarkio Agent Bill Stewart.
July 23, 1943
• The faculty of Fairfax School will be as follows (unless there are releases before the opening of school) – Marvin Kruse – Superintendent; Mrs. Dema Fitzmaurice – social studies; Miss Beulah Frerichs – English; M.E. Crawford – vocational agriculture; Mrs. William E. Booth – study hall and typing supervisor and teacher of art; Miss Virginia Fries – seventh, eighth, grades and high school chorus work; Miss Constance Siekman – fifth and sixth grades; Miss Mary Uhlig – third and fourth grades; and Miss Grace Finch – first and second grades.
