Tarkio College has announced the appointment of Johnnie Davis, of Blanchard, Iowa, as assistant to President Robert Hughes (’71). Mr. Davis is a retired educator and counselor in various Iowa school districts and served as president of Iowa’s association of school guidance counselors. He has volunteered for various committees and is a major supporter of Tarkio College. He will be working with President Hughes and Acting Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. John Fisher. Mr. Davis brings extensive experience with college placement and is an active advocate for technical school development. He will also be working with Board President Linda Brunk Smith (’65).
Upon the suggestion of Missouri State Representative Allen Andrews (R), Tarkio College is seeking meetings with other area institutions to assure that the citizens of the region have exceptional access to quality higher education and to advance the efforts of Tarkio College to gain state certification. Several meetings have been conducted or have been scheduled. Rep. Andrews represents Atchison, Holt, Nodaway and Worth Counties (District 1) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
On June 22, 2018, the Board of Directors approved a plan to begin a $250,000 start-up campaign. This will become the Founders Fund and will be used to complete the certification process. A significant portion of this goal has already been achieved through board and committee member pledges. Join Tarkio College as they bring Tarkio College back and begin to serve friends and neighbors. Contact Dr. John Fisher at 1-208-277-6229 or Tarkio College, P.O. Box 231, Tarkio, MO 64491 for more information.
