A funeral service for Elic Lando Riley was held Monday, September 24, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Tarkio, Missouri. Interment was held at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Reverend Glenn Scott and Reverend Ken Wallace officiated. Services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Elic, the son of Willard Frank and Dolly Luena (Hicks) Riley, was born June 22, 1938, in Tarkio, Missouri. He attended Tarkio High School, graduating in 1957.
On January 23, 1960, Elic was united in marriage to Karen Ann McNaughton in Fairfax, Missouri. They made their home in Elmo, Missouri, and became the parents of three children, Jeffrey Ferrell, Lanita Jean, and Elic Jerome (Jerry).
Elic began farming with his father Willard on the Scamman farm, and later farmed on his own.
Elic was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Tarkio, where he served as a deacon, taught the Royal Ambassadors and drove for the bus ministry. He was a current member of the Assembly of God Church in Tarkio and had served as an Elder.
Elic loved to talk about Jesus and all the LORD had done for him. He regularly read his Bible and often quoted scripture. He enjoyed family time, especially hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids. Elic passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at his home in Elmo at the age of 80.
Besides his parents, Elic was preceded in death by three siblings, Gladie Lois Thacker, Willard Riley, Jr. and Ima Jean Deering. Survivors include wife, Karen Riley, Elmo; children, Jeff (Rhonda) Riley, Westboro, Missouri, Lanita (Frank) Vanderbush, Brookings, South Dakota, and Jerry (Regina) Riley, Burlington Junction, Missouri; eight grandchildren, David, Dalton, Jordan, Justin, Jared, Ethan, MaKayla and Natosha; four great-grandchildren, Maxx, Porter, Nora and Jaylee; siblings, Donald (Connie) Riley, Tarkio, Beverly Hunley, Tarkio, David Riley, Elmo, Brenda (Randy Brooks) Daniels, Tarkio, Scott Riley, Walnut Grove, Missouri, Angie (Steve) Jacobs, Topeka, Kansas, Gary (Carla) Riley, Tarkio, and Steve (Carol) Riley, Tarkio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
