A two-vehicle accident on I-29 Southbound involved a Westboro, Missouri, driver. The accident occurred at 7:52 a.m. on October 4, 2018, at the 46 mile-marker on I-29 in St. Joseph, Missouri. A 2007 Honda Accord, driven by Jill A. Mantey, 32, of Savannah, Missouri, was following a 2014 Ford F150, driven by Michael P. Ohrt, 26, of Westboro, Missouri, both heading southbound. The Mantey vehicle struck the Ohrt vehicle from behind when it slowed down for traffic ahead. The Ford F150 came to a controlled stop on the left shoulder. The Honda Accord came to rest in the passing lane of I-29 facing south.
Mantey, who was wearing a seatbelt, received moderate injuries and was treated for those injuries at the scene. Manty’s Honda Accord received extensive damage and Ohrt’s Ford F150 received moderate damage and both were towed by Collision Repair. The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper D.W. Jehnzen, who was assisted by Lt. W.S. Sims, Lt. M.A Ott, Sgt. L.M. Allen, Cpl. R.P. Dudeck, and Trooper N.J. Greiner.
