Wyatt Huntley was the winner of the Atchison County Library’s drawing in Rock Port.
Katie Avrett of Tarkio, who just celebrated her seventh birthday, is also celebrating being the proud new owner of a library card. She can use her card at any library in Atchison County. Library Director Janice Rosenbohm has learned these things about Katie: She is in the first grade at Tarkio Elementary. Her family members are Bonnie and Chris and two older sisters, Kelsey and Madison. At school, she loves art, reading and recess! Her favorite things to do after school are riding her bike, reading and playing with her cat. She’s a fan of Fancy Nancy books by Jane O’Connor and Pete the Cat books by James Dean and Eric Litwin.
Katie won the drawing for new card signees in Tarkio. Her goodie bag included a gift certificate for new books, a “chalkboard” mug, tiny STEM toys and hot chocolate and candy. Katie loves drawing on her “chalkboard” mug and, of course, getting new books.
Eight year old Wyatt Huntley of Rock Port is the proud new owner of a library card, good to be used at any branch of the Atchison County Library. Wyatt attends third grade at Rock Port elementary and his parents are Jeremy and Holly. Library Director Janice Rosenbohm interviewed Wyatt, and he said, “I wanted a library card, because I wanted more books to read at home. Currently the books I’m reading the most are the Little Critters by Mercer Mayer. The subjects I enjoy most at school are science and reading. My favorite things to do after school are playing outside, reading and watching football games on T.V. The Kansas City Chiefs are my favorite team, and I really like “Patrick’s Magic”.”
Wyatt won the Rock Port prize drawing open to those who signed up for a new library card in September. His goodie bag included a gift certificate for new books, a “chalkboard” mug, small STEM toys and candy. He was most pleased with the new books and the candy.
The library’s September “new card” campaign added 12 patrons to the library rolls. Nine juveniles and three adults in Tarkio and Rock Port now have new cards. Mrs. Rosenbohm commented, “Any month is a great month to get a library card. We are always delighted to have new patrons. Cards are easy to obtain and free to all county residents.”
