The Annual Ham Dinner and “Themed” Basket Auction will be held at the Fairfax United Methodist Church Sunday, October 28, with a freewill offering.   The meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Carry outs will be available. The menu consists of ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans, rolls, various salads, and yummy desserts. The auction of baskets and goodies will start at 12:30 p.m. It’s always a delicious meal and a fun time!

The WEE (Women’s Evening Edition) uses their funds to help the local and worldwide community and church with projects such as: Backpack Buddies, Atchison County Salvation Army, C.A.R.E. of Atchison County, Festival of Sharing, UMCOR, special disaster relief, and any local needs.

The themed basket auction originated with just the auction of baskets filled with items following a certain theme, such as Christmas, movie night, child interests, books, cooking utensils and more. The auction has now expanded to sometimes a box loaded with goodies, or bowl, or tray; sometimes there are even beautiful handmade wreaths, wall hangings and/or quilts or lap robes and maybe, just possibly a chocolate angel food cake! Everyone is invited to join in the fun!
