Leona (Davenport) Ray, Fairfax, Missouri, is celebrating her 85th birthday. She was born October 29, 1933, in the home of her parents, Earl and Helen Davenport.

Leona married Donald “Ferd” Ray on June 19, 1955. They currently reside in Fairfax and live in the home they purchased in 1963. They are the parents of two sons, Morris Ray and wife Toni of Fairfax, and Roger Ray and wife Jill of Olathe, Kansas.

She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1951 and attended Gard Business School in St Joseph, Missouri, for one year. From 1952 to 1973 Leona held a few jobs, including seven years at the Exchange Bank of Fairfax and six years as a cook at the Fairfax school cafeteria. Leona started to work for the United States Postal Service in 1973 in Tarkio, Missouri. In 1985 she transferred to Fairfax and eventually retired as the Postmaster of the Fairfax Post Office in April 1995.
