Lois Evelyn Bennington, the daughter of Charles Sr. and Juanita (Million) Herron, was born January 27, 1924, in Watson, Missouri.  Lois attended grade school at North Polk country school and graduated from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, in 1941.

On June 6, 1943, Lois was united in marriage to Conley M. Bennington, Jr. in Tarkio, Missouri.  She and Conley operated the Farmers City Store near Westboro, Missouri.  In 1947, they began farming in Atchison County.  In 1955, they moved to Holt County, and continued farming.  In 1967, they returned to Rock Port where they owned and operated Bennington Chevrolet-Buick until retiring in 1979.  They spent their retirement years during the winter in Yuma, Arizona.

Lois was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Garden Club and the Ralph Greer American Legion Auxiliary Unit #49, Rock Port.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and embroidery, but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.  Lois passed away Monday, October 15, 2018, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 94.

A funeral service was held for Lois Bennington at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.  Rev. Dave Klappenbach conducted the service.  Interment followed in Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.

In addition to her parents and husband, Conley, Lois was preceded in death by sons, Ronald and Dale Bennington; grandson, Patrick Bennington; brothers, Charles Herron, Jr., Harold Dean Herron, and one infant brother; sisters, Leona Mae Herron and Doris McGinnis; and infant twin brother and sister.  Survivors include sons, Gary (Jayne Ann) Bennington, Rock Port, and Gale (Debbie) Bennington, St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Karen (Kenneth) Young, Mound City, Missouri; daughters-in-law, Sharon Bennington, Rock Port, and Jane (Mark) Hausman, St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren, Staci (Reed) Martin, Watson, Terry (Erin) Bennington, Stillwell, Kansas, Michael Bennington, Kansas City, Missouri, Michelle (Jason) Garst, and Mark Bennington, all of Rock Port, Jason (Sabrina) Young, Jackson, Missouri, Candie (Jim) McNealy, Humboldt, Nebraska, David (Erin) Bennington, and Christopher (Anne) Bennington, all of St. Louis, Melissa (Cory) Spears, Mooresville, North Carolina, Marci (Samson) Bien-Aime, Kansas City, and Mendy Hausman, St. Joseph; nineteen great-grandchildren, Montana and Brock Martin, Graham and Evaleen Bennington, Ryland and Ellie Garst, Dylan and Austin Young, Jayden and Jaylie McNealy, David, Daniel and Thomas Bennington, Samuel and Alexander Bennington, Carson and Braxtynn Spears, Celine Bien-Aime, and Peyton Hausman; brother-in-law, Doug McGinnis, Shenandoah, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
