Atchison County Girl Scout troops, consisting of Rock Port Troop 8453 and Fairfax Troop 8212, hosted their annual Mother/Daughter Cupcake Wars on October 26. They do this each year in honor of the birthday of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, which is October 31, 1860. This year Atchison County also invited other troops from their area service unit.

The cupcakes are judged in two categories, looks and taste. Winners in the looks category were: 1st place Alexi – Rock Port troop; 2nd place – Alex, Maryville troop; 3rd place – Brenna, Fairfax troop. Taste winners were: 1st place – Keira, Maryville troop; McKenna – Maryville troop; and 3rd place – Avery, Fairfax troop.
