MaryAnne (Hawkins) Pennel, age 85, Fairfax, Missouri, gracefully and peacefully went home with her Lord on November 2, 2018, surrounded by her family following a courageous health battle.

MaryAnne was born on February 5, 1933, to Cline Egbert Hawkins and Hazel C. (Bostwick) Hawkins on a farm east of Fairfax. MaryAnne attended school and church in her early years at Walkups Grove before eventually graduating from Fairfax High School in 1951 and was a proud member of the alumni association.

On September 6, 1953, MaryAnne married her forever friend, K. Roger Pennel. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2018. She briefly attended Northwest Missouri State University. They were blessed by two sons, H.C. and Roger. They made their home and raised their sons on a farm east of Fairfax.

MaryAnne was a loyal servant of the Lord. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Fairfax. She was active in many organizations that included Fairfax United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star #373 and was a past Worthy Matron, Fairfax Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Sorosis. When MaryAnne wasn’t serving her Lord and community, she made time to play pitch with the local pitch club.

MaryAnne was blessed to have a very large family to love. She is survived by her husband K. Roger of the home, Fairfax; son H.C (Kathy), Wichita, Kansas, son Roger (LouAnn), Fairfax; grandchildren: Jeremy (Alma) Pennel, St. Joseph, Jennifer (Brett) Ruggles, Wichita, Joshua (Samantha) Pennel, Kansas City, Kansas, Theresa (Matthew) Larson, Lincoln, Nebraska, Marcy (Michael) Saniuk, Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandchildren: Colton, Adalynn, Rylee, Lexus, Libby and Lucas Pennel, Braiden, Amelia and Caroline Larson, Dax Saniuk, and Cheyenne, Colton and Nash Ruggles. Additionally, MaryAnne’s nieces and nephews held a very special place in her heart.

MaryAnne was preceded in death by her parents, Cline E. and Hazel C., and three brothers, Wayne, Charles Junior and Don Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the Fairfax United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends from10:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax, Missouri.

Memorials may be directed to the Fairfax United Methodist Women or Tarkio Nutrition Center.
