Atchison County Development Corporation Board met November 7, 2018. Present were: Craig Corken, Eryn Stepp, Bob Alldredge, W.C. Farmer, Lydia Hurst, Roger Martin, Jeff Meyer, and Lori Seymour. Monica Bailey and Carol Clark were also present.
The meeting was called to order by Seymour.
Farmer moved to approve minutes as amended. Hurst seconded and all approved.
Alldredge moved to approve financials as presented. Hurst seconded and all approved.
Director Report
• 2018 BI Grant: All but one project have been completed, with $9,101.54 spent this year to date
• 2019 BI Grant: Details (including application due date) will be announced in December newsletter
• ACDC Scholarships will be available in early December, due Feb. 28, 2019
• #ShopAC will be Thursday, November 15, with 25 locations signed up so far. This year it will be an all day event, but stores will stay open until 8 p.m.
• Youth Professionalism Workshop for juniors will be Monday, November 19
• The Brickyard Hill Wind Project will likely be sold to Ameren (a state-assessed public utility), which means they are not eligible for local abatement or incentives. ACDC is working with the county on a plan of action to address this.
Old Business
• CDs were discussed. Meyer made a motion that ACDC invest the following two CDs. Corken seconded, and all approved:
• FSB #45250, $12,320.51; invest in 9-month CD at 1.79%
• US Bank #3-426-1050-1336; invest in 19-month CD at 2.23%
• The board discussed the formalization of external regular and oversight of financial actions. Martin motioned that ACDC solicit bids for the monthly or quarterly oversight of ACDC’s financial activities by an independent contractor. Meyer seconded and all approved.
New Business
• Bailey presented a draft of the 2019 budget. After discussion, she will make changes and present the budget for approval in December.
