The CARE House of Atchison County has a new back porch addition, which is a project that is near and dear to many people’s hearts.  The porch was completed in honor of Peggy Bonar, a dedicated supporter of the CARE House and its purpose, who passed away this year.

“It was always her wish to add a porch to the back of the house, so after her passing, we wanted to make sure that happened in her memory,” said Virginia Meyerkorth.

The project was funded by the Atchison County Development Corporation, the Morgan Trust and numerous supportive citizens. The porch was built under the direction of Burke’s Lumber and constructed by Danny Cooper and Scott Morehouse. “We appreciate the support given by the board members and other individuals and organizations so much,” said CARE House director Teresa Morehouse.
