A one-vehicle accident four miles south of Rock Port, Missouri, injured an infant November 8, 2018. A 2005 Ford F-250, driven by George M. Zak, 49, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was traveling southbound on I-29 when it began to skid on the ice-covered roadway at the 107.4 mile-marker at 9:02 p.m. The vehicle traveled off the west should of I-29 and began to overturn, coming to rest on its passenger side facing off the west shoulder.  Zak, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash. However, his infant granddaughter, Sarah E. Zak, who was safely buckled in, received minor injuries and was transported to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri, by an Atchison-Holt ambulance. The 2005 Ford F-250 received extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Double M Towing of Rock Port.

The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper K.L. Ebersold, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department, Rock Port Police Department, Missouri Department of Conservation, and Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service.
