The Holmes Reunion will be Dec. 2, at the Watson Community Building at noon. Bring some food, some good memories and let’s share them.

The Watson Quilters Christmas party will be Dec. 13, at 6 pm. We eat lots of good food and fight over gifts.

Santa Claus will be in Watson on Dec. 15.

Company for the Gibsons over Thanksgiving weekend were Mandy and Kevin Pitzen, Dylan and Chloe, Elk Horn, Iowa. Visitors the week before were Steve and Bucky Donald, Stanley and Luke Singleton, Chatom, Alabama, and Wendell and Payton Singleton from Hobson, Alabama.

TRIVIA

I learned a bit of trivia this past week. I thought it was interesting, so decided to pass it on. My husband is from the south and this is southern trivia coming from the Civil War. Many times, through the past years, I have heard Tom say, “He is drunker than a Cooter Brown.” I tried to find out what a “Cooter Brown” was, but he didn’t know. This phrase came up this week and one of my grandkids looked it up. Cooter Brown lived on the Mason/Dixon line and each side wanted him. He didn’t want to go and fight for either side, so he stayed drunk all the time. I wonder how many southerners say this and don’t have a clue it came from the Civil War?
