Snow and ice-covered roadways in Atchison County continue to be hazardous to drivers. A one-vehicle accident occurred November 27, 2018, on C Avenue, two miles north of Watson, Missouri, due to the slick conditions.

The wreck took place at 6:20 p.m. when a 1992 Chevy Blazer, driven by Richard L. Boyd, 39, of Watson, was headed northbound on C and began sliding on ice. The vehicle traveled off the east side of the roadway, striking a ditch. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels on the east side of C Avenue facing southwest.

Boyd and his passenger, Brianna N. Maxwell, age 16, both wearing seat belts, received minor injuries in the accident and were transported by a private vehicle to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri.

The Blazer sustained moderate damage and was towed by Benefiel Towing of Hamburg, Iowa.

The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper C.J. Blue, who was assisted by Cpl. S.M. Hux and the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department.
