Jimmie “Hud” Hudson, the son of James Henry and Marie Ellen (Slemp) Hudson, was born November 26, 1958, in Fairfax, Missouri. For a brief time, he attended school in Watson, Missouri, and graduated from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, in 1976.
In 1983, Jimmie was united in marriage to Bridget Dalton at the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port. Bridget passed away in December 1993. Jimmie made his home in the Rock Port area until the present time.
Jimmie was employed in the water department for the Board of Public Works in Rock Port for 16 years. He also worked for Hamburg Communication Construction, Hamburg, Iowa, for 10 years and Graybill Tire in Rock Port for 12 years. Jimmie also worked as a farm hand for area farmers during the busy season as well as many other odd jobs. In 2015, Jimmie retired due to ill health.
Jimmie was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping at the river, bowling, and loved spending time with his family. After Bridget’s death, Jimmie became a single dad. He was an exemplary dad, who put his children’s needs first and always took the time to support, love and care for them. Jimmie passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Bryan LGH Medical Center East, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 60.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jimmie was preceded in death by grandson, Jimmie Curtis McDonald. Survivors include children, Jeremiah Junior, Hamburg, Amber McDonald and husband, Chris, Williamsburg, Missouri, Dalton Hudson, Rock Port, and Harley J Hudson, Bloomfield, Iowa; five grandchildren, Kayla and Oliver McDonald, Heather and Melissa Parsons and Andrew Perry; two great-grandsons, Arlo and Collin Cates; sister, Elaine Eilers and husband, John, Rock Port; nephew, Phillip Eilers; niece, Jennifer Smith; and numerous aunts and cousins.
A memorial service was held Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, conducted by Pastor Tom Beutler. Private family inurnment at a later date at Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jimmie Hudson Memorial Fund to help with expenses.
