Dolores Jean Hawkins, the daughter of Sidney and June (Elder) Kinder, was born March 12, 1930, in Mound City, Missouri. She attended Mound City High School, graduating in 1947. After graduation, Dolores was employed at a doctor’s office in Mound City.

On October 5, 1952, Dolores was united in marriage to Glen Hawkins at the Christian Church in Mound City. They became the parents of two daughters, Kay Jean and Lea Anne. In 1955, they moved to the Hawkins family farm, south of Fairfax, Missouri, where they remained their entire married life. Glen passed away in 1996.

Dolores was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, where she served as Deacon and was also a member of the Night Owls and Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the 49ers Hobby Club. Dolores was a faithful member of the Community Hospital-Fairfax Auxiliary. She volunteered countless hours in the hospital gift shop, and various other hospital events. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren. Dolores was a wonderful cook who loved working in the yard and tending to her flowers. She was employed by Rogers Pharmacy in Fairfax for many years. Dolores passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Tiffany Heights, Mound City, at the age of 88.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by grandson, Eric Deatz; sisters, Lucille Boyd and Pauline McIntyre; brothers, Clyde and Robert Kinder, and two infant brothers. Survivors include daughters, Kay Jean Deatz and husband, Ron, Rock Port, Missouri, and Lea Anne Miller and husband, Doug, Fairfax; grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Mace, Brett (Molly) Deatz, Chelsea Miller, Tyson (Megan) Miller; and five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jenasey and Henley Mace, Tucker Deatz and Dexter Miller.

A funeral service was held Sunday, December 9, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, Fairfax, conducted by Rev. Elaine Loggi. Interment was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Fairfax, or Community Hospital-Fairfax Auxiliary.
