The Rock Port High School Fall Athletic Banquet was held Wednesday, December 5. Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Girls Golf and Cheerleading participants were recognized for their hard work and accomplishments this season.
Football Coach Ross Hassert gave out several awards during the banquet.
He congratulated all the players for their season. Special recognition was given to the following for their accomplishments:
Junior Kalen LaHue, 2nd Team All Conference offensive line, All District offensive line; Junior Will Oswald, All District WR/TE; Senior Zac Clausen, 2nd Team All Conference kicker; Senior Brock Martin, 1st Team All Conference returner, All District returner; Senior Dalton Stevens, 2nd Team All Conference defensive end, All District defensive end, 2nd Team All State Defensive End, Senior Gavin Abbott, 2nd Team All Conference running back, All District defensive line, 2nd Team All State running back.
Post-season team awards: Newcomer of the Year: Will Oswald; Most Improved: Cayden Criger; Offensive MVP: Gavin Abbott; and Defensive MVP: Dalton Stevens.
Cross Country coach Rachel Jenkins recognized the cross country team members who lettered and gave awards to the following:
Most Promising Freshman: Aubrey Watkins (triple sport); Most Improved Runner: Sophie Brumbaugh; Most Improved Runner: Fischer Tharp; State Qualifiers: Aubrey Watkins, Brianna Maxwell, and Alex Dewhirst; Most Valuable Player for the year: Aubrey Watkins. “We have a very promising future if all stay healthy and stick to their goals. We say good-bye to two seniors and you will be missed but we hope to see the rest of you back next season,” Jenkins told the athletes.
Six volleyball awards (voted on by the players) were awarded. They were: Newcomer of the Year (generally awarded to a freshman who makes an impact): Kierstyn Jakub; Spirit Award: Kelcie Gaines; Most Improved: Makenna Farmer; Best Offensive Player: Alivia Baucom; Best Defensive Player: Riley Vogler; Team MVP: Kelcie Gaines.
