There has been a development in the story regarding a suspect who evaded police and stole a vehicle in Rock Port on October 31, 2018.

James Rash, Jr. was arrested in Mount Vernon, Missouri, where he is being held on suspicion of numerous thefts. The vehicle he took in Rock Port was recovered in Springfield, Missouri, and has since been returned to the owner. Items in the car, including personal identification and credit cards, were not recovered. It has been reported that Rash may be linked to a number of thefts in Springfield based on evidence found inside the recovered stolen vehicle.

According to the Lawrence County Sheriff Department’s news release titled “Deputies Recover Property, Make Arrests in Rash of Vehicle Break-Ins,” hundreds of dollars worth of stolen property was recovered as a result of the arrest of an unnamed suspect on December 19, 2018. As of press time, no charges have been filed but are expected at any time.
