The annual election of members for the Atchison County University of Missouri Extension Council will take place January 3-18, 2019. There are two seats in the Tarkio school district, two seats in the Rock Port school district and one seat in the Fairfax school district up for election. Candidates running this year are: Tarkio – Allen Wennihan and Samuel Bruce Graves, III; Rock Port – Jeremy Palmer and Alan Lager; Fairfax – David Fast.
The Atchison County MU Extension Council is the local link between county residents and the University of Missouri. Council members assist in planning and carrying out Extension educational programs to improve people’s lives.
University of Missouri Extension offers educational programs in such categories as agriculture, home economics, business and industry, community development, youth development (4-H), and various continuing education courses, seminars and workshops. Voting throughout the county will be by school districts and anyone 18 or older is eligible to vote. Ballots may be cast online at http://extension.missouri.edu/atchison or at the Atchison County Extension Center located in the Velma Houts building. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Voting will take place January 3-18, 2019.
