A one-vehicle accident involving a car hitting a tree sent one to the hospital with minor injuries Saturday, January 12, 2019. A 2010 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Tina M. Stiff, 46, of Maryville, Missouri, was traveling westbound on Route 46, one mile south of Fairfax, Missouri, when Stiff failed to stop at the intersection of Route 46 and Hwy. 59. The vehicle slid through the intersection and traveled off the west side of Hwy. 59. The driver’s side of the vehicle struck a tree and the vehicle came to rest on its wheels off the west side of the roadway.

Stiff, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri, by a private vehicle. The Chrysler received extensive damage and remained on the scene for removal at a later time. The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol MSgt. M.P. Quilty, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department and Fairfax Fire Department.
