On Monday, January 21, 2019, members of God’s Army, a county-wide youth group that meets in Tarkio on Sunday evenings, were up before the sun doing the work of the SON! These kids could have slept in and chosen very differently in how to spend their day, instead, they sorted, tied and braided everyday plastic sacks into sleeping mats for homeless in the Kansas City area. God’s Army joined forces with Heartland Presbytery and collectively made nine mats. These typically take four hours each to make and around 100 bags each. Many thanks to Tarkio First Baptist and Tarkio United Presbyterian for funding this mission trip. “It was a God-filled day of fellowship, worship, service and remembering the work of Martin Luther King as well,” stated Youth Leader Jami DeRosier. The day concluded with snow tubing fun at Snow Creek! Pictured above trying out a plastic mat are Alexis Gibler, Josie King, and Emilee Caudill.
