Jenila C. Bywaters, the daughter of Arthur B. and Marie (Knapp) Slemp, was born December 13, 1935, in Tarkio, Missouri. She attended Tarkio High School, graduating in 1953.

On November 20, 1954, Jenila was united in marriage to Price V. Bywaters. They became the parents of two children, Clint and Susan.

Jenila was employed as a waitress in Tarkio until 1960 when they moved to Arvada, Colorado. While in Colorado, she was employed at Gates Rubber Plant in Denver, Colorado, Coors Porcelain Plant, and was a rose cutter at a greenhouse, both in Golden, Colorado. Following Price’s retirement in 1988, they returned to Tarkio where they lived to the present time. Price passed away in 2012.

While in Colorado, the family boarded horses, raised butcher cattle, chickens, and dairy cows, and always planted a huge garden. She never met a stranger and loved everyone, especially children. She had a fantastic sense of humor. Jenila passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio, at the age of 83.

In addition to her parents and husband, Price, she was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry and James Slemp. Survivors include son, Clint Bywaters, Arvada; daughter, Susan Hiser and husband, Hugh, Alcova, Wyoming; three grandchildren, Fred, Clayton, and John Hiser; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Interment was held at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Rev. Glenn Scott officiated. Memorials may be directed to the Jenila Bywaters Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left at www.minterfuneralchapels.com.
